  • ​Emergency Department waiting times: Average time to be seen and discharged across all HMC Emergency Departments – 1.83 hours versus 4 hours target of international best practice (Qatar National Health Strategy).
  • Cardiology – average time from arrival to acute coronary intervention is 48 minutes versus 90 mins international benchmark.
  • Stroke – the percentage of acute stroke patients at Hamad General Hospital treated within 60 minutes of arrival exceeds the international benchmark 50% to 60% of patients. The percentage reached 63% in October 2022; 57% in November 2022; and 69% in December 2022. 
  • Cancer referral for suspected cases to be seen – 94% of patients seen within 48 hours.
  • Trauma mortality rates - In 2022, for the 4th consecutive year, the HMC Trauma Program has demonstrated a mortality rate lower than North American counterparts participating in the American College of Surgeons Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) Benchmark Report; concurrent clinical trials reflect these same findings.

  • HMC Ambulance Service Response times. For the past 11 years, the average time for HMC’s Ambulance Service to respond to emergency calls has been faster than the target set by Qatar's first National Health Strategy in 2011.
  • In 2023, HMC had 4 hospitals, in addition to Sidra Medicine, ranked among the world’s top 250 academic medical centers, with 2 achieving top 100 ranking; highlighting the sector’s commitment to combining patient care, medical research and education to achieve the best outcomes and experience for patients.​
