Environmental safety is an integral part of healthcare, providing a safe and livable environment is critical to maintaining the health of the population. Air quality, drinking water and waste treatment are among the key areas of environmental safety that require attention in Qatar. WHO data show that air pollution poses the greatest environmental threat to health.
Health repercussions
One of the conditions for a prosperous society is to enjoy living in a healthy and healthy environment, free from pollutants and toxins. Also, ensuring the cleanness of drinking water is very important for perfect health. In contrast, frequent consumption of contaminated water leads to conditions such as diarrhea, bacterial dysentery, cholera, typhoid, and others. Air pollution also causes some diseases, and in this context the World Health Organization states that countries that are able to reduce levels of air pollution are able to reduce the burden of diseases such as stroke, heart disease, lung cancer and respiratory diseases.
Health goals related to environmental safety
- Cooperate with the Ministry of Municipal and Environment to monitor, identify and eliminate any existing and / or potential sources of air pollution that negatively affect the health and welfare of the population.
- Ensure that effective and qualitative control, detection and reporting of water-related hazards is carried out to avoid contamination
- Support and implement an effective and qualitative waste management system
