Occupational health
Qatar is characterized by its economic dynamism, with the workforce making up the majority of the population. In this context, work-related injuries and diseases present important public health challenges that require treatment in an appropriate manner to ensure the health and well-being of the workforce.
Health repercussions
Occupational injuries are often dangerous, and are caused by injury or trauma due to an accident, or negligence in the workplace. The majority of occupational injuries in Qatar affect the manual workforce. Relatively minor injuries can be treated so that the injured person returns to his work, but serious injuries may cause the worker to be prevented from resuming work as before, losing his job and his income.
Health goals related to occupational injuries
- Strengthening occupational health capabilities so that they contribute to setting and enforcing occupational health standards
- Establish a system for providing information and reporting that facilitates control over occupational health
- Reducing the rate of diseases, injuries, and deaths resulting from work and exposure to hazards in all workplaces
