Traffic Safety
Traffic accidents are the main cause of premature death in Qatar, where the traffic accident death rate was 8 cases per 100,000 people in 2014, and this number is high, compared to several countries that are doing well in this field, such as the United Kingdom and Switzerland, which record about 3 deaths per 100,000 Person. The Qatari youth category represents the group most likely to die in traffic accidents. Although precise data are not available on the numbers of drivers and passengers who regularly wear seat belts, failure to comply with the seat belt law is widely believed to be a major factor in road traffic deaths.
