Plans for 'Healthy Children and Adolescents' aim at improving nutrition and healthy lifestyles, reducing dental caries and obesity, maintaining high rates of vaccinations, increasing the rates of breastfeeding and improving pediatric services.
We will provide practical help to parents, teachers and care givers to create healthy environments for children to live, learn and play, allowing for happier childhoods and a stronger and healthier Qatar.
Who are Children and Adolescents?
All citizens and residents of Qatar between 0 and 18 years of age.
Why is this population a priority?
Our children are the future, and in order to give them a chance at a healthier life, we must change and strengthen our approach to providing a healthy and safe environment for them.
What are our targets by 2022?
- 5% reduction in the prevalence of dental caries among children aged 4-5 years by 2022
- 15% increase in the exclusive breast feeding in infants aged 0-5 months by 2022
- Halt in the rate of overweight and obesity amongst children and adolescents aged 5 to 19 years old by 2022
